Lighthouse

The Lighthouse Beach precinct is one of the region’s most popular residential areas, located just 10 minutes drive south of the Port Macquarie town centre. Close to numerous schools, plenty of parks and playgrounds, golf clubs, a local shopping strip with several cafes and restaurants, and the Pacific Plaza shopping centre.

The area is renowned for the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse, built in 1879, which sits upon the headland overlooking the stunning coastline and is a great vantage point for whale watching. To the west lies Lake Innes Nature Reserve, and to the east is beautiful Lighthouse Beach offering patrolled swimming, a kiosk, surf club, surfing, a leash free dog area, and camel safari rides.

The area was largely developed in the 1970s and 1980s, with rapid growth following during the 1990’s and more than doubling between 1991 and 2001.
